Oh yes, I'd love some information too LOL.

I've been *thinking* of maybe switching them off of this kibble, and trying BARF. I've heard from many, many people that it's wonderful...that their dogs have wonderful, healthy coats, and nice white teeth. Is it complicated to understand/do? What exactly do you feed them?

Ahh..sorry for all the questions. pawfectpets/blush.gif

Julie, it's not as complicated as it seems. It's a bit weird at first but after, it becomes a routine.

Annnnnnnnything! haha..okay, maybe not anything but a heck of alot of stuff. For veggies, dark leafy greens are the best but you can feed anything (as long as it's dog safe). I keep by the rule that too little and too much is bad. I try to feed bits of everything we have so they get a wide range of vitamins and minerals. Same goes for fruits.

For meats, I fed a variety of meat and bones were almost always chicken bones. They got the occasional duck and turkey necks but chicken was the easiest for us to get. They also got beef bones once in a while.

Some supplement with flaxseed oil, vitamin tablets, and a whole bunch of other stuff. I didn't...but I probably will when I feed them it again.

Okay, so cooked chicken is fine to use? Not like KFC Chicken or anything...but plain, LOL.

Could you list just about everything that you fed them while they were on this diet? Sorry! lol. I'm just paranoid thinking I'll mess up when/if I do decide to try it. tongue.gif

Ooooh, and thanks for the sites! I'm off to check them out. smile.gif

Well, the whole point of raw feeding is to feed raw but yep! It's perfectly fine to feed cooked chicken. I do it all the time and mine haven't kneeled over and died yet LOL! But I've noticed a lot of people talking about pancreatitis. I think it has to do with basically having too many fatty foods. So I find it really important to stick by the rule that too much and too little is bad. With moderate levels of fat, I think it's perfectly safe.

Here's a sample:

Sunday:
Breakfast -- Chicken meat with spinach, apples, bananas, bak choy and plain yoghurt
Dinner -- Chicken bones (with meat still on the bones) and beef liver

Monday:
Breakfast -- Beef meat with yams, oranges, carrots and plain yoghurt
Dinner -- Duck necks with one egg

Tuesday:
Breakfast -- Turkey meat with celery, pears, melon and plain yoghurt
Dinner -- Beef tripe (not bleached) with fish (usually sardines)

Wednesday:
Breakfast -- Lamb meat with peas, mangoes and plain yoghurt
Dinner -- Turkey necks with kidneys

Thursday:
Breakfast -- Chicken meat with an egg and plain yoghurt
Dinner -- Chicken bones

Friday:
Breakfast -- Beef meat with liver, apples and plain yoghurt
Dinner -- Turkey necks with beef liver

Saturday:
Breakfast -- Turkey meat with blueberries, kale, broccoli and plain yoghurt
Dinner -- Duck necks

That's just a sample of what a raw feeder might feed. I didn't feed plain yoghurt everyday but I will once I feed them raw again. Basically, you feed whatever you have. If I happen to only have chicken bones that night, that's what they get. If I only have apples, that's all they get for the veggie mix that day. I also fed recreational bones (beef bones) every now and then just for a little treat and to help a bit more with the teeth.

Here's a good pictorial: http://www.auntjeni.com/barf.htm
